Third year of support for Cheshire charity

A charity that supports families of seriously ill children will benefit from a third year of fundraising by leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes North West.

Northwich-based The Joshua Tree has again been selected as the company’s nominated charity, making it the focus of employee fundraising throughout 2015.

David Hodgson, sales and marketing director, said: “Over the past two years we have donated £16,000 for The Joshua Tree, and we hope to build on that total this year.

“The charity works with the families of children suffering from conditions that seriously affect the immune system, such as childhood cancers, and we have been struck by the dedication of their team and supporters, so we want to keep helping them.”

Charity founders, Lynda and David Hill, felt very strongly that they wanted to create a haven for families to be able to spend quality time together in a safe environment after experiencing for themselves, with their son Joshua, how much of a family’s initial time after diagnosis revolves around the hospital, siblings have to spend time with carers whilst ‘mum and dad’ begin a process of adjustment at the child’s bedside.

The charity has launched a #DIGDEEP campaign! in conjunction with the Northwich Guardian, aiming to raise £250,000 towards the creation of a much-needed Support Centre in time for The Joshua Tree’s 10th Anniversary in May 2016. Donations can be made via www.thejoshuatree.org.uk
