Revealed: Plans for £1bn Manston Airport regeneration
The first images of the planned Manston Airport redevelopment, which is set to create more than 4,000 jobs, have been released.
The designs, which include two concepts for the area, each with residential areas, commercial space and parkland, have been drawn up in the same style as the redevelopment of European airports such as Flugfeld Boblingen in Stuttgart and Tempelhof Airport, in Berlin.
In May 2014, Manston Airport closed with the loss of 150 jobs. Now, the owners are planning on spending £1bn to regenerate the site.
Chris Musgrave, who owns a majority stake in the former airport site, said: “Much work is going on behind the scenes on making sure the various elements are balanced just right.
“There is still work to be done before we have a completed blue-print but we are on track to complete this initial preparatory work and reveal our outline plans by June this year.
