Hambleton businesses invited to thriving Thirsty Thursday

Local good causes and businesses across Hambleton are set to benefit thanks to the continued success of the ‘Thirsty Thursday’ networking event in Stokesley.

The fourth event takes place on May 14th with further events planned for June 25th and July 23rd.

As well as helping businesses from around the Hambleton area meet one another and share plans and ideas, organisers of Thirsty Thursday are encouraging attendees to help raise money for local good causes by making a small donation to enter a prize draw to win a meal for four.

Since launching last November, over 100 businesses have taken part in the informal event, held at The Mill on Springfield in Stokesley, and are now starting to see the results of meeting likeminded individuals.

The aim of the informal get-togethers is to allow businesses to meet after work, between 5pm and 7pm, and talk about new projects and opportunities and share advice on everything from accounting, marketing and PR to web design, retail, events and business planning.

Thirsty Thursday was the brainchild of two Stokesley businesswomen, Anna Addison who runs PR company Anna Addison Associates and Sue Thompson, who runs design company Catch Design Management.

The ladies came up with the idea after meeting through Superfast North Yorkshire when they recognised the need for an informal networking event for people living and working in Stokesley and the surrounding towns and villages.

Anna said: “What started out as an idea to get together for a couple of hours for a chat about our businesses has really turned into something a lot more beneficial. Thirsty Thursday has taken off to such an extent that over 100 businesses and individuals have so far taken part. We’re really pleased that we can all support one another and also raise some money for local good causes.”

Sue said: “It’s really interesting that there has been such a phenomenal response to Thirsty Thursday- it shows that Stokesley and the surrounding areas have an incredibly thriving business community and that informal support can be so helpful. It’s great that people are now doing businesses together, locally, and also exchanging all types of advice and ideas.”

The next Thirsty Thursday takes place on Thursday May 14th at The Mill on Springfield in Stokesley between 5 and 7pm. Businesses from around the Stokesley area are invited to attend.
