Tennis tournament reaches new heights with Hilton sponsorship
A rooftop game of tennis overlooking the waterfront offered a spectacular view for the Hilton Liverpool to announce its sponsorship of the Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament.
The prestigious city hotel is the latest business to support the event, which takes place at Liverpool Cricket Club from June 18-21, and Hilton general manager Marcus Magee wanted to mark it in a very special way.
“There have been some iconic exhibition matches in some iconic places around the world,” he said. “We have a World Heritage site on our doorstep so why not launch our sponsorship with a little game on the roof of the hotel looking out over the Liverpool waterfront?”
And so, armed with racquets and tennis balls, Marcus and tournament organiser Anders Borg headed to the very top of the Hilton Liverpool and enjoyed an impromptu mini-game to seal the deal.
“It was a first for me,” said Anders. “I’m not a great fan of heights so there was an added challenge. But the view was amazing and it demonstrates the importance of having partners that go the extra mile and understand how to turn something good into something great.
“That is how we have built the tournament and we are proud to welcome the Hilton on board as sponsor.”
Hilton Liverpool will be the official hotel of the tournament throughout the four days.
“It is important that everyone who comes to the tournament, from the fans to the players, has a great experience,” said Marcus. “Everyone who stays at the Hilton will be treated like the World number one and I am sure they will all want to return.”
