Chichester's Deltex Medical makes next move in US expansion

Oesophageal Doppler monitoring (ODM) specialist, Deltex Medical has secured its first remote trainer account in the USA as part of its ongoing programme to build a platform for stateside roll-out of ODM.

The account is a teaching hospital in New York State, which has elected to implement its own clinical training programmes on ODM with minimal, primarily remote, support from the Chichester-based birm.

The firm has seen average monthly probe purchases in the first four months increase circa 60% on 2014 at just under 40 probes a month. Clinicians leading the implementation are targeting an average monthly usage of 100 or more probes within three years.

The company is working with the hospital to determine how best to deploy its newly launched e-learning modules to support remotely further adoption of ODM.

Ewan Phillips, Deltex Medical’s chief executive, commented: “This is the fourth account added to our US platform programme this year and the tenth in total, with the other nine being under our dedicated trainer model.

“As well as further progress towards our goal of readying the business for national roll-out of ODM towards the middle of 2016, this account represents early success with a lower cost clinical support model as we move to increased deployment of digital training platforms.”
