Pudsey’s Winder Power Ltd “delighted” with Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne’s visit

As the most important day in the political calendar, the 2015 general election, approaches, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne is still campaigning for any last minute votes.

On Tuesday evening (June 5th), Mr Osborne visited Yorkshire during his 24 hour election tour to stop by the Pudsey headquarters of Winder Power Ltd, the leading UK manufacturer of power and distribution transformers.

As part of the brief tour of the facility Mr Osborne was greeted by Winder Power Operations Director, Andy Pinkney, local Conservative MP Stuart Andrew and was able to get his hands on some of the state-of-the-art machinery, including plying his skills on a coil winding machine.

Dating back to 1898, during the Conservative Prime Minister Robert Gascoyne-Cecil’s reign in government, all Winder products continue to be designed, hand wound and assembled at the company’s 80,000 sq ft factory in Leeds.

As well as respecting the traditional skills, Windser transformers are now used in energy projects around the world – from the Middle East to South America – while the company stays true to its West Yorkshire roots.

Andy Pinkney, operations director of Windser Power, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Chancellor to our factory to show how we have combined the century old craftsmanship of hand wound transformers with cutting edge engineering to service British and international markets and continue a 117 year history as a leading British transformer brand on the world stage.”
