Ambition for Mowden Park to become core North East business hub
North East sports stadium Mowden Park recently opened its doors to local companies as it held the fourth annual DL Business Expo.
Businesses both large and small set up stalls inside the ground, giving them the opportunity to showcase their products and services to potential customers. Visitors were also able to attend workshops and seminars held by entrepreneurs from across the country.
It’s reported that Mowden could now become a core business and events hub within the North East, following the expo’s success.
Lee Rust, managing director at Mowden Park, said: “The DL Business Expo was a huge success and again highlights the potential of the stadium to be used for events outside of sport.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Darlington Business Club on something that helps promote the region and boost the local economy.”
The DL Business Expo is the brainchild of Darlington Business Club and aims to boost the region’s economy by encouraging all businesses in the area to look to local companies to fulfil their goods and service needs.
Chairman of the Darlington Business Club, Graeme Rowatt, said: “The DL Business expo has gone from strength to strength each year.
“In fact, such was the popularity of the event this year, over half of the exhibition stands sold within a few hours of the event going online.’’
“It was important for us to find a suitable venue which would accommodate this fantastic opportunity and we were delighted to be able to work with Mowden Park.”
Mowden Park have already held a number of high profile sporting events at the Northern Echo Arena this year.
Among them has been a Rugby World Cup trophy tour, national press conferences with the England Rugby World Cup winning captain Katy Mclean MBE and Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, and the recent England Double Header Internationals.
