Escrick Holiday Park celebrates its 10th anniversary in style
Disappointing weather failed to dampen the spirits of the guests at the 10th anniversary party of the award-winning Hollicarrs Holiday Park, Escrick, near York, this weekend.
More than 200 visitors came from across the UK, including the oldest and the newest owners at Hollicarrs who were the guests of honour at the special anniversary.
Bryan and Lynn Cahill, who bought a holiday home in May 2005 when Hollicarrs first opened, were joined by Ron Boyd and his fiancée Gina, who bought their Hollicarrs home just a few weeks ago.
The manager of Hollicarrs, Dawn Buck, commented: “The weather wasn’t perfect, with rain threatening and a vicious wind, but we were delighted that so many people came to celebrate with us, and everyone seemed to have a tremendous time.
“They were able to have an exclusive opportunity to discover more about a state-of-the-art, top-of-the-range luxury 52 ft by 22 ft anniversary lodge, with a Bluetooth sound system, specially designed interior décor, vaulted ceilings and skylights in the roof – as well as being able to view the 3 demonstration lodges already on the park. Visitors also enjoyed exotic cocktails, vintage ice creams, a bouncy castle and archery.”
Set in 25 acres of woodland in the grounds of the historic Escrick Park Estate, Hollicarrs Holiday Park features more than a 100 bespoke lodges and holiday homes. It has a range of activities including fishing, horse riding, bowling and tennis, while cycle trails run through the estate, which has many pretty woodland walks.
Dawn Buck added: “We also handed over a holiday lodge to its new owners, Mr and Mrs Taplin, with flowers and a champagne celebration, and took two more deposits for new lodges. All in all, not forgetting a great speech from owner Charlie Forbes Adam, it was certainly a day to remember”.
Another Open Day is planned for late summer. Once again, it will enable visitors to look at what Hollicarrs has to offer, meet the owners of the lodges and holiday homes, sample the facilities on offer and enjoy entertainment and refreshments laid on especially for the day.
The holiday park is the brainchild of Charlie Forbes Adam, who manages the Escrick Park estate, of which Hollicarrs is part. Mr Forbes Adam wanted to create an extra special experience for holiday home owners.
He explained: “In everything we do, the environment is of paramount importance and the care and attention put into the planning stage of Hollicarrs was carried through to produce what is seen today. Great care has been taken so as not to disturb the eco-balance existing here.”
This work was recognised when the park was awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation and the 5 Stars VisitBritain Award for an exceptional lodge park, within the first year of opening in 2006, and continues to be held to this day.
Charlie Forbes Adam explained: “Hollicarrs is very private and secure, offering owners a true natural sanctuary to enjoy for years to come. All lodges and holiday homes are well spaced and carefully sited to give each owner full advantage of the peaceful surroundings which really look very special during every season. Ideally located, Hollicarrs is within easy reach of road or rail network and is also very close to the Robin Hood Doncaster and Leeds Bradford airports.
“It is a breath-taking experience entering Hollicarrs and we can boast that our holiday park is simply like no other - a beautiful peaceful natural haven to be enjoyed all year round. It is especially beautiful now, with the bluebells in full flow,” he added.
