Major re-brand for longstanding Teesside business

A well-known Stokesley business, with a reputation spanning over 20 years, has undergone a major re-brand following a period of growth and a change in management.

Opentree, formerly tsaADVET, provides document management software for sectors such as oil and gas, steel, manufacturing, rail and energy and is one of the longest established businesses of its kind in the UK.

Andrew Frank, from Hutton Rudby near Stokesley, has been involved with the business since its inception in 1992 and took over sole management in 2014 and now has full ownership.

Since then, turnover has grown by almost 50% and Andrew has added five new staff, now employing a team of 16, with plans to create five new jobs in the coming months. In addition, Andrew has re-branded the business to ‘Opentree’ and launched a successful second office in Sheffield to cope with demand in the area.

The original business, based at Belasis Business Centre in Billingham, was founded in 1992 as a supplier of computer aided design (CAD) systems, providing consultancy, scanning and plotting services. Since then, Opentree- now based at Stokesley Business Park- has grown and evolved, developing its own electronic document management software (EDMS), called ‘Cabinet’, which is used all over the world.

The software allows organisations to manage the full lifecycle of their documents and drawings from creation and workflow through to business processes and issue to the client while keeping a full audit trail.

The Cabinet software offers simple and efficient collaboration between global locations and access to the latest version of any documentation which is vital for companies to remain competitive in the world markets. Cabinet is already widely used by Atkins, Balfour Beatty, National Grid LNG Storage, Siemens, Signalling Solutions and Tata Steel to name a few.

Opentree’s electronic document management solutions are supplemented by hard copy archiving, indexing and scanning services. Engineers can gain quick, hassle-free access to their archives straight from their desk enabling them to view their documents and drawings located off-site as and when they need to.

Managing director, Andrew Frank, said: “The time was right for a major re-brand as we are growing in a very competitive, international market. Our services are niche and in high demand and, thanks to our established reputation, we have a good client base from which to grow further.

“There are a number of global companies offering a similar service to ours but without the many years’ experience, the easy-to-use and highly configurable software and a skilled team that offers a personal service. As we move forward under our new name, there are some exciting projects in the pipeline both here in the UK, across Europe and in the Middle East too.”
