A team of 18 cyclists are set to embark on the biggest cycling challenge ever, when start the epic Lands End to John O’Groats ride starting on Saturday 23rd May aiming to raise £30,000 for Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

The journey which will take eight days will bring the riders past the Hospice on Monday 25th May before arriving at John O’Groats on Sunday 31st May.

Team LeJog will be riding in memory of their dear friend Nigel Colclough who passed away last year, after receiving care from the Hospice.

Simon Harrison, one of the riders from Stoke on Trent commented,

“I wanted to take on the LeJog challenge because it’s important to look at what you’ve got and not what you haven’t and appreciate it because it can be taken away from you at any time.

“We have been training as a team for a number of months and everyone is really looking forward to it now.

“We’ve also held fundraising events in the lead up to help us raise £30,000 for the Dougie Mac. This is our way of saying thank you to the Hospice for caring for Nigel who was a beloved member of our team and a dear friend.”

Sophie Breslin, Athensis Thinking Systems, one of the teams sponsor said,

“The LeJog team are such a big-hearted, hard working, humble and generous bunch of people that are prepared to go out of their way to support other people in need. It seemed only natural to provide the seed funding for them in turn.”

Suzi Smith, Fundraising Manager added,

“The LeJog team is a true inspiration to everyone at the Hospice and we all wish them the best of luck on the ride.

“They will be updating us daily so we will be keeping our supporters updated on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.”

“We cannot thank them enough for their valued support.”
