Ofsted praise for Wearside based adoption agency

The team at Wearside based ARC Adoption North East are celebrating thanks to an Ofsted inspector’s praise for their outstanding ethical and compassionate ethos, and high quality environment which underpins the service’s identity.

The recent visit was the first Ofsted inspection at new voluntary adoption agency ARC Adoption North East which opened 13 months ago.

Developed with a start-up grant as part of the Government’s reform of the adoption system, Ofsted registered, ARC Adoption North East is one of only three new voluntary adoption agencies set up this way in the UK, and the only one in the North.

Ofsted also recognised the outstanding leadership and robust preparation and assessment undertaken at ARC Adoption North East by “very professional, knowledgeable and skilled staff and as a consequence, had been well planned, well organised and of an excellent standard.”

Director at ARC Adoption North East, Terry Fitzpatrick is delighted that ARC Adoption North East have been rated as overall good by Ofsted with some outstanding features, he said:

“As ARC Adoption North East is only 13 months old we are very pleased with this first report from Ofsted. For all of us here at ARC Adoption it is a privilege to work in the field of adoption. We use our extensive knowledge and skills to increase the opportunities for children and adopters to experience a positive family life. It was therefore particularly rewarding to be regarded as outstanding for the quality of the service we provide.

Terry added;

There are thousands of children waiting for families. The vastly experienced team at ARC Adoption are dedicated to making a difference and working towards helping children find a loving home whilst also ensuring that adoptive parents receive a first class service.“

Ofsted also highlighted the very high quality of reports along with feedback from an adopter who said; “The assessment is thorough but not intrusive as the social worker was extremely professional and they carried out the assessment in a highly skilled manner.” For further information please call 0191 516 6466
