Sufferer shares personal insights to mark Action for Brain Injury Week

A brain injury sufferer will share his first hand experiences at an event in Scarborough on May 21 to mark Action for Brain Injury Week which runs from May18 - 24.

People who have suffered a brain injury along with their families and carers are invited to listen to Steven Butlin at the informal session which takes place at The Street, 12 Lower Clark Street from 4.30pm to 6.30pm

The event is being hosted by the Yorkshire East Coast branch of Headway - a charity which provides a wide range of support and information services for people with brain injuries, their families and carers.

Earlier in the day Headway is hosting a stand near the canteen in Scarborough Hospital from 10.30am to 3.00pm. Information, factsheets and advice will be available and hospital staff are also invited to drop by.

Mark Hollinghurst, chair of the Yorkshire East Coast branch of Headway, said: “We welcome visitors to both our stand and to Steve’s presentation which is both insightful and humorous and will resonate with many attendees.

“Brain injury can have devastating consequences for individuals and their families, affecting every aspect of life. Although we all think ‘it’ll never happen to me’, a brain injury can affect anyone at any time. When it does, we’re here to help.”
