Scout Centre Receives Badge of Approval from Planners
Designs by Cassidy + Ashton to create new facilities at Waddecar Scout Activity Centre have been approved.
Situated within an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ five miles north of Goosnargh, construction work on the proposed development will begin in May 2015.
The six-month build programme with contractor R P Tysons Construction Ltd will deliver a new single-storey toilet and shower block at the activity centre located within the Forest of Bowland.
The completed project will provide modern toilet and shower facilities for users of the activity centre, with provision for both male and female leader and visitors.
A laundry room, drying room, disabled changing room and external pot wash area will also be provided.
Dan Brown, associate architect at Cassidy + Ashton, said: “The site is incredibly popular and attracts many visitors. It has been great to assist them in designing this new state-of-the-art facility and we look forward to the project finally starting on site.
“The resulting design and choice of materials reflect the careful early planning and the project will prolong the life of a popular facility which we hope will be used well for many more years to come.”
Charity King, Waddecar Centre Manager, added: “We are really excited about this latest development at Waddecar.
“Last year saw the completion of a project investing half a million pounds in our site infrastructure, now the new toilet and shower block will continue that investment in Waddecar’s future.
“The new build is a major step in the ongoing renewal and development plan to keep Waddecar providing outdoors adventures to thousands of youngsters in Lancashire, long into the future.”
