A 12 year old school pupil, Grace Hulme has been recognised for her outstanding charity work at the launch celebration event of local Pharmacy, Well, which is now open on Barlow Moor Road in Manchester.

Grace Hulme, a pupil at North Chadderton High School was nominated for her outstanding and tireless effort to help raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. Grace has raised more than £2,100 for the charity in honour of her Grandma who has been under the care of MacMillan nurses for two years.

Grace Hulme was welcomed at the pharmacy by the CEO of Well, John Nuttall and Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall where she was presented with ‘Love 2 Shop’ vouchers so that she could spend some time on treating herself.

Alan Halsall, known for his long standing role as Tyrone Dobbs in the Manchester based soap Coronation Street was also in attendance. He received the first ‘health check-up’ in Well with the branch pharmacist.

Elaine Hand-Griffiths, regional manager of the Well in Manchester said: “We are extremely excited to unveil the new look pharmacy, our aim is to be part of the fabric of Manchester’s community and so we’re overjoyed that we were able to celebrate Grace’s commitment to the community, giving us a further reason to celebrate. We recognise that many of our customers like Grace are tireless in their efforts to support the locals, which is why we wanted to celebrate her work at our grand opening.”

Grace Hulme said: “I’m so pleased to have been chosen as Manchester’s unsung hero and I was extremely excited to attend the grand opening of Well. This recognition gives me the confidence to continue to make a difference in the local community and hopefully raise enough money to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.”

Over the coming months 780 former Co-operative pharmacies across the UK will rebrand and benefit from a £40m a year investment over the next five years to provide personalised healthcare services and products that meet the needs of every customer in the community.
