Blacks partner with Walk2Walk Holidays to promote walking
During National Walking Month, Walk2Walk Holidays have partnered up with Blacks to prove that walking can be for everyone, by sending two beginners on their very first mountain walking adventure.
Lorna Kellett, 21, and Paige O’Grady, 23, travelled to the Tramuntana Mountains in Majorca to experience their first walking holiday, and have set up a new campaign to promote walking as an alternative “twenty-something” holiday. The Girls Go Walking blog will highlight their experiences on the trip.
The trip was organised by Walk2Walk Holidays, who specialise in walking tours in Europe and beyond. Blacks, the outdoor clothing brand and retailer, have also kitted the walking newbies out with essential gear including walking boots, rucksacks, waterproof jackets and sunhats.
Steven Rittey, Leisure Holidays Manager at Walk2Walk Holidays said: “Girls Go Walking is a great way of showing how walking holidays can be suited for everyone. The majority of bookings we take are for the over 40’s, but these kind of trips can be a fantastic experience for people of all ages and abilities. Here at Walk2Walk Holidays, we want everyone to know the benefits of going on a walking holiday.“
Oliver White, Marketing Manager from Blacks added: “We were happy to team up with Walk2Walk Holidays to kit out the ’girls’ for their ’Girls Go Walking’ blog. It’s important to have the proper equipment when hiking through the mountains! Walking is a brilliant way of getting active and healthy, and hopefully this will encourage more young people to get walking.“
Lorna Kellett, at the Girls Go Walking blog, said “It was a completely new experience for us as beginners, but the sense of achievement when we’d finished the tour was brilliant. We would never have got that thrill from an ordinary package holiday – and we wouldn’t have seen the beautiful scenery, either!“
