Lancashire haulier scoops top award
A Lancashire haulage and logistics business has beaten international rivals to win a major accolade from manufacturing giant BOSAL.
FDC Holdings, which has its headquarters at Walton Summit in Preston, won BOSAL’s carrier of the year award, seeing off competition from 48 other hauliers worldwide.
The family-run business transported more than 345,906 items for BOSAL in the last 12 months with an outstanding delivery performance and was also credited for its reporting programme, which has a success rate of 99.9 per cent.
Automotive manufacturer BOSAL employs over 5,500 people in 24 manufacturing plants and 18 distribution centres, with an annual turnover in excess of €796million (£594million.).
Peter Allen, managing director at FDC accepted the award at BOSAL’s head office in Lummen, Belgium.
Peter said: “As a family-run business rooted firmly in Lancashire, this award win is a real coup. We’ve beaten some of the largest players in the industry, from countries as far-flung as China, which really demonstrates the difference efficiently deliveries and quality reporting can make to a company’s profitability and customer satisfaction.
“We’re gaining recognition for our service-led culture and that’s pleasing. We want to create that feeling wherever we are at all of our sites because ultimately, it’s the customer who is at the heart of our business.”
Robert Theckston, managing director at Bosal Automotive and Industrial Components Ltd, added: “FDC delivered an outstanding delivery performance for our home market deliveries in the UK. We thank the FDC team for their dedication and great work for BOSAL.”
Founded by Peter and his brother Stephen in 1997, FDC serves customers in a variety of sectors including health care, motor industry, education, manufacturing, retail, and food and drink.
Across its three sites at Chorley, Walton Summit and Leyland, FDC is able to offer more than 552,000 sq ft of storage, self-contained office space, workshops and warehouses in all from its strategic locations near the M6, M65 and M61.
