Northumberland business coach launches event to inspire North East entrepreneurs
A self made entrepreneur turned international author is aiming to boost business success in the region with the launch of a new event.
Northumberland-based Paul Wakefield is bringing together a host of successful business owners, professional speakers and entrepreneurs to Newcastle to share the secrets of their business and personal development.
The event, ‘No Excuses No Limits’, will see a number of international speakers taking to the stage to inspire current and budding entrepreneurs and business leaders at the Thistle Hotel, Newcastle, on 28 and 29 May.
Paul is an online and offline marketer and business coach who runs three small global businesses from Northumberland as part of the Wakefield Group.
Paul’s story is a tale of “both great highs and lows”, as he puts it.
Starting a business circa February 2007, Paul saw his first venture close the following year in which he had to make three people redundant. However Paul, who came to Northumberland in 2005, was determined to bounce back and start again. “I’d always wanted to start my own business, ever since I was younger”, he reveals.
“So by October 2008 I started another business with only £2.87 in my bank. I literally started with a laptop from my bedroom, it’s all you need!”
“I went on to make 128 sales of an ebook and made over £6k in profit. This is why I’m doing this event, I want to show people that you can be a success even if you’ve had your setbacks down the line.”
However, as Paul says, he has endured both extreme lows as well as the success.
“I actually battled serious depression for two years. Drink, drugs, depression… I’ve went through it all”, Paul explains following the deaths of several close family members.
Yet Paul’s depression and ensuing housebound lifestyle led to him putting greater focus on “sitting behind a laptop and teaching myself how to do things”.
In October 2013 Paul signed a publishing contract. His book, No Excuses No Limits, is an international bestseller on sale in 24 different countries. Now, the Cramlington-based entrepreneur has a second book due out this month with a third on the way.
Among the speakers at the No Excuses No Limits event is Wearside-born fitness entrepreneur and former TV Apprentice candidate Katie Bulmer-Cooke.
Also on the bill is transformational trainer and international speaker Amanda Brown, founder of The Leading Ladies Company, which inspires women to succeed in business.
Joining them is Pete Rea, an entrepreneur who made his fortune at 21, lost everything by 35, before building another multimillion pound enterprise.
Other speakers include serial entrepreneur Ketan Makwana, trainer and motivator Terry Careswell of Ignite Firewalking, social media expert Zoe Cairns and didgeridoo ‘therapist’ Gregg Chapman.
Free publicity expert Rachel Taplin, inspirational holistic therapist Christine Deponio and co-founder of El Shaddai Charitable Trust Enita Edgar will also speak at the anticipated event.
Paul Wakefield, who too will be speaking at the event, said: “This event is for ambitious business owners who are doing well but want to do better and are truly ready to embrace change. It’s also for people who are looking to start a new business but are frightened to take the leap.
“They will discover how to start, grow and succeed in business on a shoestring budget and gain insights from some of the UK’s most successful business owners, professional speakers and entrepreneurs. They will also walk away feeling like they can achieve whatever they want in life and business.”
