Fashion retailer Select opens ninth Yorkshire store in Leeds’ Merrion Centre
The fashion sector in Leeds’ Merrion Centre has significantly improved with the addition of women’s clothing store, Select, which also created 10 new jobs.
After securing a new lease with Merrion Centre owners Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS), Select now joins Merrion Centre’s other fashion retailers, Peacocks and Shoezone.
The 3,500 sq ft Select store is already becoming a success with its catwalk styles at affordable prices being purchased by the hundreds of thousands of customers visiting the Merrion Centre every day.
The new Merrion Centre store is Select’s 162nd site, and boosts its Yorkshire presence with nine stores across Sheffield, Dewsbury, Wakefield and Shipley.
Helen Green, associate director for TCS, said: “We were delighted to work with Select in finding a store which matches their requirements and are really pleased to be able to offer our customers an improved fashion line up, which will be strengthened once more when the extension to the Morrsions store opens incorporating the children’s Nutmeg clothing range.
“As well as maintaining all of our founding stores it is important for us to continue to develop our portfolio in line with our core demographic shopper. We are keen to continue to offer our customers variety.”
Cafer Mahiroglu, managing director at Select, added: “Select is on an exciting re-branding journey. Our overall aim is to offer effortless fashion, yet with surprising prices relative to our competitors. The Merrion Centre is the ideal location for our Leeds city centre store, the centre’s high footfall and mixed demographic really works for us. We have already seen a strong sales performance since opening our doors less than a month ago.”
Other recent development at the Centre include the opening of My Thai Restaurant on Wade Lane, the expanding Yorkshire business Crawshaws butchers has openedon Arena Way Mall and Caffe Nero opened on Merrion Street.
