Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling expands facilities thanks to Natwest funding

Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club has made major improvements to its function facilities with funding support from club members and NatWest.

The club is frequently used for weddings, sports dinners and other community events.

The club recently received its licence in 2014 to facilitate wedding ceremonies.

The club’s sport facilities include six-all weather tennis courts, a bowling green and of course a cricket pitch which is used by the Leigh Cricket Club team, Lancashire Ladies Cricket team and several junior groups.

Steve Bailey, of Leigh Cricket Club, said: “The function room is really the last of a series of improvement works we have recently undertaken. As a club we want to continue to support the local community by becoming an all-purpose venue but needed the right facilities to do this well.

“We are thrilled with the results.”

NatWest relationship manager Andy Peet said: “I was delighted to support Leigh Cricket Club on its expansion of the club’s function facilities.

“The club does a wonderful job of bringing sport to the local community and we wish it every success for the future both on the pitch and off of it.”

Lancashire Cricket Board (LCB) also supported the project.

Managing director, Bobby Denning, said: “It is great to see such a thriving club on and off the field undertake this facility development.

“Leigh Cricket Club has always been a strong supporter of the LCB and the relationship between both organisations has always been strong.

“The objective for our LCB Clubs and Leagues Department is to sustain a vibrant and successful club and league network.

“This can only be achieved with committed volunteers within our clubs and Leigh CC has always demonstrated its focus on ensuring the club has a secure future in recruiting, retaining and develop players and volunteers, both male and female.

“We will continue to support the club which is an integral part of the community and cricket network.”
