Rotherham United to decide on major New York Stadium extension
The fate of the capacity at Rotherham United’s will be decided in the next couple of weeks.
The size of the South Yorkshire club’s home ground, a 12,000 capacity all-seater stadium, may increase if Rotherham’s chairman Tony Stewart has a successful meeting with architects today.
A development plan, focusing on the ground’s corporate offering, will begin within the next fortnight if the extension gets the go-ahead.
Speaking with The Advertiser, Mr Stewart said: “Increasing the stadium capacity is one of two or three projects we’re currently looking at. When we’ve had our meeting this week it will be time to work out the sums and work out whether it will be worth going up to sixteen or twenty thousand.”
“It is an important step and we have to give it full consideration.
“Something we are keen to do is extend the banqueting area and get more corporate boxes in there and maximise the space we currently have.”
