hlw Keeble Hawson partner sleeps rough for Sheffield’s homeless

A partner from hlw Keeble Hawson has gained an insight into the plight of the homeless in Sheffield and raised almost £1,000 to boost funds for the Cathedral Archer Project.

Giles Searby, a specialist in dispute resolution and sport, joined over 30 participants in a ‘Business Leaders Sleep Out’ to support the city’s homeless and vulnerable.

The event took off after the Cathedral Archer Project’s Chair of Trustees, Neil MacDonald, challenged the business leaders to sleep rough with him and raise £25,000 to mark the project’s 25th anniversary. Participants have exceeded the target – raising £27,000 to date.

Said Giles: “The experience of sleeping rough helped us to understand the challenges faced by the homeless who are forced to live on the streets day in and day out. Through this event we have been able to help raise the profile and enhance the understanding of the project’s tremendous work and I’d like to thank my colleagues and friends for helping me to raise almost £1,000 so far and its tremendous that we’ve collectively smashed the £25,000 target”

Tracy Viner, the charity’s marketing and development manager, said: “We believe that life should be fulfilling and enjoyable. Homelessness isn’t - we work with homeless people to find ways to help them overcome the issues and barriers they face leading them towards a better life.

“We are so pleased Giles and the other business leaders have supported this event which has helped us to share information about the work we do and raised much needed funds to continue it.”
