Leeds-based security firm wins £650k multi-storey car park contract
Gough and Kelly, a Leeds-based security and electrical services, has secured a £650k mechanical and electrical services contract for the new £10.6m University of Leeds multi-storey car park.
The ten-level, 690-space car park aims to improve the quality and safety of parking facilities at the university, as well provide parking for drivers visiting establishments near the area, such as the First Direct Arena and Leeds General Infirmary in the evenings and at weekends.
Work on the car park commenced in December 2014, and the completion date is slated to be in December this year.
Shepherd Construction has appointed Gough and Kelly to fulfil the mechanical and electrical contract, which consists of the design and installation of a full LED lighting scheme inside and out - including state of the art, colour changing façade lighting – alongside a solar PV system, IP CCTV monitoring and an addressable fire alarm system, which can pinpoint exactly which device has been activated.
Nathan Haxby, Gough and Kelly’s mechanical and engineering client manager, said: “Our engineers are due to start on site in the next two months, and our work will be completed by December. It was the combination of electrical and security expertise within our team that helped us design a lighting and security system that is both innovative and cost effective, and met the university’s specific requirements.”
Established in 1989, Gough & Kelly provides electrical and security products and services to a range of organisations in the private and public sectors throughout Yorkshire. Clients include Leeds United Football Club, City of York Council and the Church of England, and the team also delivered the security contract for stage two of the Tour de Yorkshire in April.
