Newcastle's Ringtons continues southern expansion with launch of new Weymouth service
North East tea and coffee retailer Ringtons is continuing to expand throughout the South of England with the launch of a new doorstep delivery service at Weymouth.
The South West expansion adds to existing sites in Southampton, Sidmouth, Exeter and Ivybridge, for the Newcastle-headquartered company.
Vintage bike enthusiast and co-founder of vintage cycling event Velo Vintage, Sebastian (Seb) Cope will be running Ringtons’ new venture in Weymouth from his base in Marshwood.
Speaking of the launch Seb Cope said: “The reception at our launch event was fantastic – not only did the horse and cart and vehicle display attract a crowd but the locals also loved hearing all about Ringtons and trying our tea and coffee – while I greatly enjoyed exploring my new patch in the sun on my Penny Farthing.
“I’m excited to be introducing Ringtons as a well-established, family business to Weymouth, Bridport and Dorchester and look forward to being the friendly face of this much-loved personal delivery service.”
Carol Griffiths, Head of Ringtons in the South West, said: “Our Weymouth site is the third we have launched in the south west of England this year and we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received at every stage.
“We started our year of expansion in Newton Abbot in March and most recently added Yeovil to the list of Ringtons areas. Our personal delivery service has been very well received by those looking for a unique shopping experience which nods back to an era when home delivery was the norm.
“We have plans for further growth in Devon and Dorset in the coming months so it’s a very exciting time for us and we hope our future sites will be just as well received as Weymouth has been.”
Ringtons was established in 1907 by Samuel Smith who delivered tea by horse and cart to homes in Newcastle – today the company remains a family business, boasts 250,000 customers from 37 sites and can be found delivering goods on a fortnightly or monthly basis from as far north as Edinburgh, to as far south as Ivybridge.
