Dentist Andrea running to support victims of UK sex trafficking
Award winning York Cosmetic Dentist, Andrea Ubhi, is running from York to Selby on Sunday 14th June to raise money to open “Ella’s Home”, a safe house in London for women who have been trafficked and have suffered from sexual exploitation.
She will be running the distance with her friend and colleague Kate Keating, Territory Manager, Straumann UK, Swiss dental implant manufacturer who works closely with the practice.
Ella’s Home is named after a girl who was sexually exploited as a teenager and then after arriving in London she was extremely vulnerable and having no safe place to stay was further exploited in a brothel.
Emily Chalke and Rachel Price are running 400 miles from Edinburgh to London, averaging 25 miles a day to raise £30,000 for the charity. They set off on June 6th from Edinburgh and expect their journey to take them 16 days arriving in London on 21 June.
Andrea Ubhi, Owner of Andrea Ubhi Cosmetic Dentistry is also working with Asha Nepal a human rights organisation working towards the social and economic empowerment of women and children affected by sex trafficking, said: “My friend Emily told me about their vision to open a safe house in London. The work is so very important and I wanted to support this phenomenal challenge to help vulnerable women who arrive in the UK and need somewhere safe to go. Fifteen miles will be nothing in comparison with their 400 but we hope it spurs them on and encourages people to donate to the charity.”
