Plans for £16m neighbourhood hub in Great Sankey

LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council has unveiled plans to build a £16m neighbourhood hub in Great Sankey, Warrington.

Subject to planning approval, construction on the phased development will start later this year for phase 1 completion and opening in Autumn 2016 on the existing Great Sankey Leisure Centre site.

The new facility will include a 120 station fitness suite, upgraded swimming pools, playing pitches, sports hall, group exercise studios, outdoor functional training frame, state of the art library, café, retail outlets, trim trail and heritage trail.

There will also be a business zone offering contemporary meeting spaces.

The building will also be home to cultural events working in partnership with LiveWire’s sister company Culture Warrington.

The main planning application for the scheme has been submitted and will be considered on the 5th August 2015.
