West Yorkshire family-run business to open London showroom
The owners of a Yorkshire-based family-run furniture brand are preparing to launch a showroom in in London’s Clapham Junction later this month.
Husband and wife team Steve and Claire Laidlaw, who founded Distinctive Chesterfields in Honley, West Yorkshire back in 2007, have since expanded the business into America, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Sweden.
But as there is a high demand from customers in the south of England, the company will be opening up a second UK base to give people the chance to see the furniture without having to travel to the region.
The brand’s second showroom will feature a team of London-based interior experts. The new premises will consist of the company’s entire stock including leather suites, sofas, wing back chairs and footstools.
Ahead of the showroom’s official launch on June 29, Steve Laidlaw, the owner, said: “The launch of the new showroom has been the business’s key priority for some time. We’re well aware of the demand for good quality, but equally great value chesterfields and we realise our West Yorkshire showroom is a little out of reach for London-based fans of the brand.”
Steve currently employs a Yorkshire-based team of 20 upholsterers and a further eight office and showroom staff.
He added: “We can’t wait to meet everyone who’s planning to say hello during or after our launch and we’d be delighted to offer tempting launch day discounts to anyone interested in making a purchase.”
