York’s Langley Solicitors assist in GHD’s merger with GHA Livigunn

The globally-recognised engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services company, GHD, has increased its presence in the UK by merging with GHA Livigunn, a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering business.

With UK offices in london and York, GHD will add more than 160 new staff due to the merger, who will all work throughout a network of regional offices including in Cheadle, Frodsham, Sutton Weaver, Leeds and St Albans.

GHA Livigunn serves the water, energy, waste, buildings and transport markets, as well as operating in the buildings sector, trading as BSCP.

Christian Hunt and Alex Birch of York-based Langleys Solicitors advised GHD on the deal.

John Dutton, GHD’s UK director, said: “This merger provides the critical mass to realise our strategic vision to expand our UK capabilities and geographical spread. GHA Livigunn’s capabilities complement our existing skills and resources in the UK, enabling the combined business to deliver a range of services across the five global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation.

“GHD and GHA Livigunn share the values of safety, teamwork, respect and integrity. Our values will be the foundation for continued growth and an even stronger position in the market.”

Mark Ingram, managing director, GHA Livigunn, added: “We have always strived to provide wider opportunities for our team and enhanced offerings to our clients through growth into new markets, services, and geographies. This merger provides our clients access to the global expertise of engineers, architects and environmental scientists while making sure they still enjoy local service and personal attention.”

Christian Hunt, partner at Langleys Solicitors, also commented: “GHD has demonstrated clear management direction and a focused growth strategy over the last few years. This transaction will help GHD continue to achieve those aims and enhance its service offering. The deal with GHA Livigunn, alongside others that we have advised on recently, offers clear evidence that the corporate M&A market is in excellent health.”
