Halifax industrial complex acquired by Kent-based Wernick Group
Kent-based Wernick Group has acquired a 145,000 sq ft industrial site in Halifax to operate at its new regional depot.
Located close to the A629 Keighley Road and about 1.5 miles north east of Halifax town centre, the estate has been substantially fire damaged by vandals. Junction 24 of the M62 is five miles away.
The Leeds office of property consultancy Knight Frank advised Wernick on the acquisition of the site, which was purchased for an undisclosed sum.
David Wernick, chairman of the Wernick Group, said: “I would like to thank Knight Frank and, in particular their industrial property specialist Tom Lamb, for finding these premises for us. They as are near perfect as can be. Tom’s diligence was exemplary.”
Wernick Hire, an integral part of our group, is currently on an expansion drive and Tom was also involved in our recent purchase of an 135,000 sq ft industrial site at Shipton-by Beningbrough, near York, from Norish.“.
Tom Lamb added: “Knight Frank has been delighted to help the Wernick Group as it continues to expand. We worked closely with David Wernick on the acquisition of the Shipton-by-Beningbrough, although I was actually representing Norish, and our relationship has flourished with the acquisition of the Elizabeth Industrial site.
“More generally, both these deals underline that the fact the industrial property market is now flourishing in Yorkshire. As confidence returns to the economy, as exemplified by the Wernick Group’s expansion drive, so significant deals are being done, provided the location and the price are right.”
Knight Frank’s industrial property team have just been named the most active in the county by leading property trade magazine Estates Gazette.
