GMI Construction begin work on deluxe Leeds city centre hotel
GMI Construction has been appointed by Evans Property Group to develop its new deluxe hotel on Greek Street and Bond Court in Leeds City Centre.
With an 18 month schedule, GMI Construction has been tasked to construct the 10 storey, 90 bedroom luxury hotel, which forms part of Evansâ £20m investment plans for the Bond Court area of Leeds.
The first phase of the investment was carried out late last year with a major refurbishment programmes on neighbouring office buildings, Minerva and Capitol, to create over 50,000 sq ft of Grade A office space.
Leeds City Council approved planning permission for the demolition of the former âstackerâ decommissioned car park and adjacent restaurant to make way for the new hotel.
As well as the new hotel and offices, Evans is also collaborating with Leeds City Council to deliver important public realm works in order to ensure the comprehensive regeneration of the whole area.
Alan Syers, portfolio director at Evans Property Group, said: âLast year saw the office transformations complete at Minerva and Capitol, delivering some much-needed Grade A space to the city at a time when shortage is at an all-time high. It is incredibly exciting to be starting on site at the hotel which is an integral part of the whole Bond Court regeneration.“
Andy Bruce, managing director of GMI Construction, added: âFollowing on from our recent work on the Capitol office building for Evans, we are delighted to be working with the team again to deliver another important piece of the Bond Court transformation. The design and prominence of the hotel will make it an excellent addition to the Leeds leisure offering and we are looking forward to bringing it to life.“
