London law firm sues Leeds United
Although Leeds United is firmly focused on improving for the 2015/16 season, both on and off the pitch, the club is once again caught up in another financial fiasco.
A law firm, based in London, has filed a lawsuit against Leeds, claiming that it is owed around £150k.
Details of the lawsuit surfaced in a written claim submitted by Mishcon de Reya, an internationally recognized law firm, at the High Court in London.
The London-based firm is demanding the Championship club pays fees plus legal costs for providing legal services during 2014.
This latest blow comes in the midst of a positive period for the West Yorkshire football club, which even includes its financial situation.
At the beginning of the month, Leeds’ owner Massimo Cellino claimed the club’s finances are back on track and almost breaking even.
Cellino said: “When I first came in, I had to pay £5m just to keep the club going. By the end of last season, we had lost £22m. Now the forecast is that we are close to break even.
In addition, Leeds’ also revealed that the sales figures for the 2015/16 season tickets are already higher than they were at this point last year.
For the sake of the fans, hopefully this lawsuit can be resolved as quickly as possible.
