Leeds Building Society requires larger office space for growing business
As Leeds Building Society continues to create new jobs to manage the growing business, it has been forced to lease more office space in Leeds city centre.
250 employees have been relocated from the Society’s head office on the corner of Albion Street and The Headrow, to new premises in City Exchange.
This additional 17,000 sq ft premises increases the Society’s total office space by almost 20% and frees up room in head office for new colleagues joining the business.
Leeds Building Society created more than 100 new jobs in 2013 and in 2014 and is aiming for a similar number during 2015, after continuing to build its membership, savings balances and mortgage lending to record levels.
The Society currently employs more than 1,100 people, with approximately half that number based in offices and branches in the Leeds area.
The move by five head office teams - Mortgage Lending, Mortgage Services, Investment Services, Business Support and Contact Centre - to City Exchange will enable refurbishment work to progress at head office.Karen Wint, Leeds Building Society’s Operations Director.
Karen Wint, Leeds Building Society’s operations director, said: “I’m pleased that colleagues have been settling in well to the bright, modern offices at City Exchange in the heart of Leeds city centre,” said Karen Wint, Leeds Building Society’s Operations Director.
“The move has eased pressure on our head office and the space we have in neighbouring Butts Court. In our 140th year, we continue to look ahead to the future of the business and are finalising our office accommodation strategy to keep pace with resourcing.
“We also are working on our programme of branch refurbishment, as branches remain a key part of the Society’s strategy to ensure our members can access our services how and when they want.”
Richard Bean, from property agents JLL, who advised on the deal, added: “City Exchange provides high quality, contemporary office space and makes the perfect new home for Leeds Building Society, just a stone’s throw away from their city centre HQ.”
