Carlsberg put Leeds’ former Tetley’s headquarters on the market
The ex-Tetley’s headquarters site in Leeds has been placed on the market by the company’s owners, Carlsberg.
Located on the city’s South Bank, the former industrial site is being marketed at an undisclosed price, BBCreports.
Carlsberg’s decision to close down the brewery in 2011, which has been operational since 1822, resulted in the loss of 170 jobs.
In recent years, the premises was used for multiple purposes, including the conversion of the headquarters into the art gallery The Tetley.
Carlsberg hope to find a buyer by the ends of 2015.
In a statement the company said: “Around 100 of our employees remained working in office-based roles on the site and the team has increased in size to over 150 in subsequent years.
“Five years on, we have commenced a process to select a purchaser for the site who will be able to take forward the site’s redevelopment. We will be taking care to select a purchaser who will respect the site’s heritage and be proactive in bringing forward a successful, high-quality development.
“Regardless of any future sale and redevelopment of the site, it is our intention to retain an existing operation in the local area. We hope to be able to announce the successful purchaser prior to the end of 2015.”
