Premier Inn prepares to re-submit plans for a new £10m hotel in Blackpool
Premier Inn will re-submit plans for a new £10m hotel in Blackpool.
The UK hotel chain is in the process of preparing a new improved planning application for a 150-bedroom flagship hotel and Brewers Fayre restaurant Blackpool.
This will be the second time Whitbread, Premier Inn’s parent company, has submitted a planning application on the site of the former Yates’ Wine Lodge on Talbot Road.
Although the site had public support and a recommendation for approval from the planning officer, the first planning application was refused permission on the grounds of design and lack of parking provision.
Acquisition manager for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, who is leading the development for Premier Inn, Nick Johnston, said: “Blackpool is an iconic seaside resort in the UK, and with this comes high demand for high quality and affordable accommodation.
“The site of the former Yates’ Wine Lodge is the perfect location for a new Premier Inn hotel. “It is close to the world famous Blackpool Tower and Pier and is metres from Blackpool North train station and town centre.
“Our plans will bring more people to Blackpool, increasing footfall and benefiting many local businesses and tourist attractions.”
More than 50 new jobs in a variety of roles will be created by the new development on opening
Turley is assisting Premier Inn with the community consultation for the proposed hotel and restaurant ahead of the planning application being submitted to Blackpool Council.
