'Oarsome' team sets sail for Dragon Boat race

A regional housebuilder has amassed an ‘oarsome’ team to compete in Northampton Rotary Club’s annual dragon boat festival.

Persimmon Homes Midlands, based in Northampton, will take part alongside dozens of local companies at the popular event on July 19th at Billing Aquadrome.

Richard Oldroyd, managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “The Dragon Boat Festival is a hugely popular event and we think it is the ideal opportunity for our staff, families and friends to get together for a fun day.

“We always think it is important to play an active role within the communities where we build, so we are pleased to be once again taking part in this event which supports Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Rotary’s Charitable Fund Appeal.

“I know how competitive some of my team can be, but also how great all the parts of our company are at co-operating and making sure they deliver in their everyday working lives, so I look forward to seeing the results of their teamwork on the water.”

The Persimmon Homes team includes staff from across the business, captained by senior land manager Bryan O’Mahoney.

The crew includes Jodie Parkinson, Stuart Jolly, Sam Goodall, Phil Etherton, Sam Coleman, Ben Purdy, Adam Lersch, Mark Gatehouse, Martin Garner, Paul Holland, Jane Walden, Doug Burroughs, Alex Slater, Oli Collings, Andy Rowe and Peter Moore.

Richard added: “I don’t know whether our land team have found their sea legs yet, but I am certain they will work their hardest, so I wish all those taking part the best of luck.”
