Family-run haulage firm invests in trailers

A family-run haulage and logistics business has made a further investment in its trailer fleet to meet the demands of continued growth.

FDC Holdings, which specialises in palletised distribution, storage and fulfilment for some of the UK’s largest brands, has bought six new trailers.

Founded by Peter Allen and his brother Stephen in 1997, the company serves customers in a variety of sectors including healthcare, motor industry, education, manufacturing, retail, and food and drink.

The new 13.7m SDC curtainsider trailers are designed to improve vehicle aerodynamics, reduce fuel consumption and the fleet’s carbon footprint.

It follows the company’s recent investment into nine new Scania vehicles complete with Euro 6 engines, designed to cut emissions.

Peter said: “By continuously re-investing in our fleet of trailers, we hope to deliver a service that meets the needs of our customers every time. We’re a family-owned business which continues to grow and with that we continue to make sure we are offering a first class service.”

Across its three sites at Chorley, Walton Summit and Leyland, FDC is able to offer more than 552,000 sq ft of storage, self-contained office space, workshops and warehouses in all from its strategic locations near the M6, M65 and M61.
