Netto opens second Sheffield store as North of England growth plans continue
Following the successful launch of a new-look Netto store on Wadsley Bridge in November last year, Sheffield has just opened a second store on Queen’s Road.
Combining Netto’s low-price discount model with a Scandinavian twist, the 10,000 sq ft store is part of the company’s trial to open 15 stores over the next year in a joint venture between Sainsbury’s and Netto’s parent company, Dansk Supermarked.
The Queen’s Road store has 25 new employees from the local area and features a new design based on the latest Netto stores in Denmark, which have proven to be a success in recent store openings across Yorkshire.
In addition, each new Netto store now features an in-house bakery offering fresh Danish breads and pastries, including the Copenhagener (39p).
As well as pastries, fresh meat and produce will be delivered to the store every day with all fresh meat being British, and seasonal British fruit and vegetables sourced at the highest quality.
Morten Möberg Nielsen, managing director of Netto UK, said: “Since announcing our re-launch in November 2014, Netto has gone from strength to strength. Our store in Wadsley Bridge has been a particular success so we’re really pleased to be opening a second store just south of the city. It’s a really exciting time for the company as we continue to push ahead with our growth strategy with another nine stores set to open in the next six months.”
