Shopping Centre raises ££££‘s for charity
A South Yorkshire based shopping centre has raised £3,143 for two fantastic causes recently.
The Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley has once again hosted a day of fun raising for all the family to benefit the towns Tiny Hearts Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
This year’s charitable efforts was launched by a 15ft (size of a fully grown male Giraffe) coin tower that stood in the shopping centre for two weeks which was the back drop for a sponsored virtual cycle with a total distance of 282km - the distance between the Alhambra and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Other activities included special guest appearances from Peppa Pig, SpongeBob Square Pants lookalikes and a Storm Trooper that were available for photo opportunitie and a football speed challenge with prizes for the top adult and top child.
Steph Higham, Alhambra Shopping Centre marketing manager said: “We were delighted with the turnout at this year’s One Great Day event. It’s fantastic to see Barnsley residents all backing two worthy charities.
“The money raised will truly change the lives of families with special care babies and allow the nursing staff to continue offering life changing medical care.”
