West Yorkshire’s John Cotton targets further warehouse growth after multi-million pound property move

John Cotton Group, a West Yorkshire-based manufacturer of pillows and duvets, is aiming to expand and increase market share following a multi-million pound commercial property purchase.

Established in 1916 and based in Mirfield, the John Cotton Group has acquired new premises on Low Mill Lane in Ravensthorpe as part of a strategic move to support future growth across the UK.

John Cotton Group will use the properties to enhance warehousing and distribution facilities.

Mark Cotton, group managing director at John Cotton, said: “Both our Nonwoven and Home Textiles divisions have experienced substantial growth over the last few years and these new properties will help us to expand our warehousing facilities in the Mirfield area to support further growth. We are a business that is passionate about investing in the local area, so when these properties became available, it was the perfect opportunity for us to fulfil both our social and commercial aspirations.”

The Leeds office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell advised John Cotton Group on the deal.

John Flathers, real estate partner, spearheaded the transaction with additional support from partner Andrew Walker and corporate partner Philip Goldsborough.

John Flathers, head of real estate at Irwin Mitchell in Leeds, added: “John Cotton is a new client for the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell and it is clearly an ambitious and exciting business to be involved with. We are delighted to advise on this deal and look forward to working with the business in the future.”
