New chairman appointed to leading Yorkshire tech business
One of the UK’s fastest-growing technology companies, based in West Yorkshire, has appointed a new chairman and has sold a stake in the business as it moves forward with its development.
As part of an investment deal, Ryan McCarry has taken on the role of chairman at Oriium, based in Wetherby. The company has also sold a 16% stake in its business to assist with its growth.
Oriium provides data management and infrastructure consultancy including managed and hosted services (Cloud Dynamix). For the last two years, the “Channel Only” company has been ranked as one of Deloitte UK’s top 50 fast-growing technology businesses and is seeking a hat-trick at the 2015 awards later this year.
In his role of chairman, Mr. McCarry will assist with Oriium’s ambition to become the leading channel solutions provider, working with the current team on strategic acquisitions and also growing revenues in the coming three years to exceed ten million.
Mr. McCarry, from Harrogate, is highly regarded in the sector as founder of Sleek Networks, a well-known internet infrastructure provider acquired by Adapt in 2013.
Following the acquisition, Ryan spent 18 months as part of the Adapt executive team, integrating the business and creating the UK’s leading enterprise cloud habitat provider.
Established in 2007 by Chris Kiaie, Oriium’s company ethos and business strategy has resulted in year-on-year growth. The business currently employs a team of 35, initially launching with just two founding members of staff, and re-located to larger premises at Sandbeck Way in Wetherby at the end of last year.
Ryan said: “It is a huge privilege to be a part of the next stage of Oriium’s growth and I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead. This is a great opportunity to work with an incredible team with an outstanding industry reputation. Given the growth of the business and success that Chris has created to date, I believe that Oriium will be the go-to provider to the channel market in the UK.”
Chris Kiaie said: “Oriium is at an exciting stage in its development and we are really pleased to have Ryan on board as chairman. His experience and roles to date have given him the attributes to help shape high quality businesses that meet and exceed customer expectations.”
This latest news follows the recent announcement that Oriium has been appointed as the sole UK and Ireland distributor for Imation Nexsan Technologies, world leaders in enterprise class storage platforms. To mark the appointment, Oriium will host an exclusive technology conference next week at Oulton Park Racetrack in Cheshire on the 2nd July.
