Sheffield 'Works Out at Work' with The Physios
Physiotherapists from Beech Hill Road-based practice, The Physios, showed Sheffielders just how easy it is to exercise during their lunch break with a special event in Weston Park to celebrate the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists’ annual ‘Work Out at Work Day’.
Local office workers, students, mums and sportsmen from across the city, including several players from Sheffield Eagles, joined Kat Ferneyhough and her fellow physiotherapists for a special open air Pilates session.
“Pilates is a gentle, whole body work-out that is suitable for everyone and we wanted to show that it can be done absolutely anywhere!” explains Kat.
“During the afternoon, we showcased three classes each with varying types and levels of exercise that can be adapted to all situations and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves,” continues Kat.
“The event also gave us the perfect opportunity to talk to people about occupational health and how physiotherapy can help musculoskeletal conditions.”
The Physios held a quiz to challenge participants on how much they knew about health in the workplace with the two highest scorers winning a complimentary physiotherapy consultation.
Concludes Kat: “We succeeded in getting people to think more about their health and experience working out at work to see how easy and fun it can be. At the same time, we were able to promote physiotherapy and how it can help everyone lead better, more active lives and achieve things they thought may not be possible.”
