Passmore announces winner of company’s 50th anniversary competition
Leeds resident Debra Evans is the lucky winner of a new £5,000 bathroom, having entered the competition to celebrate Passmore Group’s 50th anniversary.
Home improvement specialist Passmore announced the giveaway in March, as part of a year of celebrations to mark its half-century milestone. West Yorkshire residents were encouraged to enter via the company’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter account, before the winner was chosen at random from a staggering 840 entrants.
And last week, Debra and her daughter Amber, who live together in Churwell, Morley, visited Passmore’s Wortley showroom to begin planning their new dream bathroom. They also received a bottle of champagne, commemorative flutes, flowers and their giant £5,000 gift voucher.
Recalling the moment she found out she had won, Debra said: “I couldn’t quite believe it. At first I thought it was a joke, and then wondered if it was just a marketing ploy. But when Passmore asked for a suitable date for me to meet their specialist designer and surveyor, I began to realise I really had won!”
Upon arriving at the showroom, Debra was the first to admit her win couldn’t be better timed. Having lived in her home since it was built in 1989, she has kept the same bathroom for 26 years. Now Passmore’s challenge is to remove the champagne coloured suite, cork tiles, artex covered ceiling and glass light, to pave the way for a contemporary new solution.
Debra continues: “Having looked around the showroom for some inspiration, I’m thinking of a modern bath with shower over the tub, waterfall taps, a tiled floor, LED spotlights and natural stone-coloured walls. If we can stretch to underfloor heating, I wouldn’t say no to that either!”
In only eight weeks’ time, this vision will very much be a reality. Commenting on the opportunity to make a local resident’s dream come true, Passmore’s managing director Tony Passmore said: “We’ve never done anything like this before so had no idea how successful the competition would be. But the giveaway created quite a buzz in the press and on social media, so we received more entries than we could have ever imagined. I’m delighted that Debra was so happy to learn her fate, and it seems she’s a very worthy winner indeed.
“Passmore’s 50 years in business is very much down to the people within the West Yorkshire community. We have a large number of loyal customers, who have repeatedly turned to us over the years, as well as recommending us to their friends and family. The competition was a great chance to give something back, and what better time to do it than in this golden year.”
