Golfers help charity’s fundraising drive

A CHARITY golf day has raised hundreds of pounds to support services for disabled people, their families and carers at Calvert Trust Kielder.

The Gale & Phillipson and Adept Communications and Technology golf day at Matfen Hall attracted 20 players across five teams from local businesses including Towergate Insurance, Start Energy, Savage Silk Law, Handelsbanken and Ecusol.

Overall points winner and top spot on the day was won by Brad Patchcott from Ecusol with an individual spot prize for longest drive going to Norman Summers.

Simon Davis, wealth planning advisor at Gale & Phillipson supported and played on the day. He said: “We’re all keen golfers so it was good to have a day of playing golf in aid of a really great cause.

“Calvert Trust Kielder does a brilliant job and we’re proud to support and help them in any way we can.”

Corporate & Events Fundraiser at Calvert Trust Kielder Hazel Ditchburn said: “We rely on donations so the support of local and regional businesses like Gale & Phillipson and Adept is absolutely key to our fundraising success and continued work with disabled adults and children. Everyone at Calvert Trust Kielder is very grateful.”

The golf day is just one of a number of corporate and community fundraising events organised and/or supported by Calvert Trust Kielder each year.

Adept Communications and Technology’s sales manager Philip Pugh is currently cycling America’s Route 66 to raise funds for the centre. Returning on 16th July after completing an epic 2500 miles across 25 days Philip has already raised an impressive £4500.
