New MSCA President focuses on Northern Powerhouse
Colin Gillespie, the new President of the Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants (MSCA), has set out his agenda for his 12-month term of office, focusing on the themes of youth financial education, forging stronger links with the business community, improved engagement with business members and raising the profile of the MSCA.
He now heads the 5,100 strong membership group, which will continue to champion the Government’s move to create a Northern Powerhouse and devolution agenda which will undoubtedly see a shift in the relationship between regions and central government.
Colin is a member of the Board of Governors at the University of Manchester and is Chairman of consultancy company People buy from People (PbfP Limited). He is a long-standing member of the North West business community. He qualified with Arthur Andersen before moving into corporate finance with BZW and later becoming a senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Colin said: “I am delighted to be President of the Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants. The MSCA represents business and practice members in the regional business community and the views of its members to the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales). I very much look forward to forging stronger ties with local businesses and the wider community in Greater Manchester.”
“In addition to my themes, I have also nominated the Parkinson’s Disease Society as my charity during my term in office.”
Alan Clarke, partner at Downham Mayer Clarke, is the new Deputy President and Anthony Woodings, partner at Hurst & Company, is the new Vice President.
The MSCA with its 5,000+ strong membership, is one of the largest district societies (covering Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire) of the ICAEW outside London.
