RD Biomed announces exclusive Irish distribution deal

RD Biomed, the Yorkshire medical technology innovator, has unveiled an exclusive distributor in Ireland for its reflux diagnostic device Peptest.

Peptest is an accurate, painless and inexpensive saliva test that tells you conclusively if you have reflux.

Bodycare.ie, a company with more than 39 years’ experience in the Irish healthcare sector, will exclusively market and sell Peptest in Ireland.

Professor Peter Dettmar, director at RD Biomed, Paul Kavanagh and Paraic Kavanagh, directors at Bodycare.ie, officially launched Peptest in Ireland at the recent Irish Society of Gastroenterology conference held in the Killashee Hotel at Naas, County Kildare.

Professor Peter Dettmar said: “We are pleased to appoint Bodycare.ie as our exclusive distributor in Ireland. Working with a company that believes in improving early detection of serious illness and life threatening conditions is exactly what we want to provide customers worldwide.”

Paul Kavanagh, managing director of Bodycare Natural Healthcare Limited (trading as bodycare.ie), said: “We are delighted with the opportunity to bring to Ireland the world’s first non-invasive reflux test. Untreated or severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD) may lead to sinister conditions so early diagnosis and detection of this condition is important. Peptest will offer many GORD sufferers in Ireland a simple non-invasive, cost effective diagnostic alternative.”

“Not only will patients know if they have reflux, a positive test can be read by an electronic reader determining an accurate level of pepsin present in the test sample. This informs the physician if high, medium or low levels of pepsin are being refluxed, and thus next steps can be determined which may include medication or medication adjustment along with recommended appropriate lifestyle adjustments, or further investigation into the condition may be required.”

Medical professionals in Ireland can order Peptest for their patients, while individuals can also place orders direct online. Three small collection tubes and instructions will be sent via post. Customers collect three small saliva samples over one or two days and send them to a laboratory in a pre-paid envelope. Results will be emailed to their doctor.

RD Biomed’s expanded distribution channel means Peptest is now available in 21 countries, including China, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and the UK.
