Chancellor urged to retain Entrepreneurs' Relief

Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) has urged Chancellor George Osborne to simplify the UK tax system and incentivise businesses to create jobs and take on staff.

The Chancellor is set to make an Emergency Budget Statement on July 8 - and Seaham-headquartered GAS is hoping it includes business-friendly measures that will stimulate economic growth.

Brad Groves, Chief Executive and Chairman of GAS, said: “My company has pledged to create 100 jobs and the administrative tasks surrounding the recruitment of new staff can often be burdensome. A reduction in red tape would encourage entrepreneurialism and enterprise and help companies that are on course to grow rapidly over the next couple of years.

“Whilst the Chancellor is not going to have much room for manoeuvre in terms of financial incentives for businesses, it would be useful if he could protect incentives that already exist such as Entrepreneurs’ Relief, which would encourage individuals to invest in the business.”
