Bolton law firm chooses builders for new £5m HQ
Asons Solicitors has handed the contract for construction of its new flagship headquarters to a Warrington building firm, with the project retaining hundreds of jobs at Asons and potentially creating hundreds more in the near future.
The Bolton-based legal specialists awarded the contract for the £5m project to Cruden Construction, while architects Bradshaw Gass & Hope, also from Bolton, handled the design.
Building work is due to start on July 13. It is hoped the project will bring the town centre of Bolton into an era of modern architecture and new commercial developments. The project, a four-storey building comprising 48,000 ft2, will be located at the crossroads on the town’s northern side, where St Peter’s Way and Topp Way meet.
Asons Solicitors’ CEO, Dr Imran Akram, said: “These are exciting times for Asons as we build for our future. During the next 12 months we will be putting into place our recruitment plan of retaining 300 jobs and creating a further 300 over the coming years.
“We are looking forward to moving into other areas of law, bringing exciting new products to the legal market like we have done so far, giving the client an all new experience. We have a great team working with us, Cruden and BGH, to make our vision a reality.”
Cruden Construction’s experience in the industry includes projects like the mixed-use development Commutation Plaza and Campbell Square, both in Liverpool, as well as the Heron House office site in Manchester.
The company’s business development director, David Dickie, who has been with Cruden Construction for 15 years, said: “Both Asons and Cruden focus on customer satisfaction as their number one priority and both organisations have great corporate social responsibility credentials, committing resources and efforts towards helping North West communities prosper.”
Discussing the launch at the Asons headquarters site, David Hamer of architects Bradshaw Gass & Hope said: “It is a fantastic feeling, after two years of design development work, to finally see the realisation of an amazing piece of architecture that will transform the Bolton skyline.
“Working with Asons Solicitors on the project has been an unforgettable experience and we know this will continue as the construction phase starts and Cruden Construction are introduced into the team to deliver this iconic building project.”
While the land chosen for the HQ was once a Bolton Metropolitan College campus, it was also the site of the home of the Akram family, whose sons are now Asons Solicitors’ directors.
