Local travel agent in Times International Track 200

Amble based travel agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown who runs her own travel business as part of leading independent travel company Travel Counsellors, is celebrating after the company was named in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 at the weekend, which ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

The independent travel company has been ranked 174th in the list, which highlights those organisations who have experienced substantial international sales growth over the last two years.

Since launching her leisure and corporate travel business from her home office in February 2014, Lizzie has seen it go from strength to strength.

Lizzie puts this success down to the unique personal service she can provide to her customers. She comments; “I am proud to be part of a company that has been recognised in this way and that has grown because our customers trust the independent, expert, personalised travel advice that we provide. As a Travel Counsellor I take the time to get to know my clients so I can cater and tailor-make trips that are individual to them, and being part of an international company means I benefit from global deals, local knowledge and have 24/7 support from our overseas offices should I need it. In turn my customers really appreciate the fact that I am always there for them should they need me, and it’s this personal service which has sets us apart.”

Lizzie can also meet up with clients at a time to suit them, meaning her customers can book their travel arrangements from the comfort of their own home or workplace without having to venture into a high street shop or spend hours searching on the internet. Plus unlike many travel companies which are owned by a big name tour operator, Travel Counsellors is completely independent, meaning that Lizzie is free to recommend the holiday or business trip itinerary that exactly suits her clients’ needs.

Lizzie adds; “With access to the latest travel technology I can search through literally hundreds of suppliers to find the very best options for my customers, and then tailor-make itineraries to suit them. Through the use of company intranet message boards, webcam and instant message technology I can also share advice and local knowledge with fellow Travel Counsellors in seven countries across the globe, offering my customers a unique level of personal insight into travel destinations worldwide.”

The company, which now has over 850 Travel Counsellors like Lizzie across the UK, and a further 550 in its overseas operations in Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Belgium and the UAE, has experienced a growth of 180% since its first overseas launch in Ireland ten years ago. Travel Counsellors continued success was also recognised last year when the company was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s highest accolade for business success, in recognition of the company’s continued growth and overseas expansion.
