New Cumbria chartered surveyors firm creates 10 jobs
A Penrith firm of chartered surveyors and valuers that was established just three months ago has already created 10 jobs.
Robson and Liddle Chartered Surveyors, launched by experienced property professionals John Robson and Julie Liddle, is hoping to grow its team further in the coming months as demand for its services hots up.
The firm provides advice to farmers, landlords, tenants, rural estate owners, residential and commercial property owners, and professional firms on matters such as agricultural valuations, property management, and the sale and purchase of land and property assets.
John and Julie decided to set up Robson and Liddle, based at The Courtyard in Edenhall, after many years working in the region for Carlisle and Durham-based, H&H Land and Property, where John was managing director and Julie a director.
Julie, who is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), said: “With Robson and Liddle we saw the chance to create an independent firm, which would give us the opportunity to proceed with ventures we felt were right for us. Being independent was key.
“Between us our new team has over 75 years of combined experience working with farmers and property owners in the region. We decided to call the new business Robson and Liddle for that reason, many people in the Eden Valley and beyond know us already, so it just felt right. We’re a new, but familiar face.”
John, a RICS Fellow, added: “The new business has got off to a flying start and new client instructions and recruitment have happened even more quickly than expected. We’ve already handled some interesting and significant matters and we’re working with farmers and estate owners who moved with us. We manage in excess of 55,000 acres and our growing individual client work means we are looking to create further positions in the business.”
Julie, a County Durham farmer’s daughter who lives in Carlisle, spent almost 14 years with H&H. John, who lives at Cliburn near Penrith, qualified in 1982 and had held the post of managing director at H&H since 2006, during which time its turnover grew to in excess of £2.4m.
Over the years, both have played a key role in some of the region’s largest property matters and complex valuations.
As well as John and Julie, Robson and Liddle’s senior team also includes John Turner, a chartered surveyor for over 25 years and an experienced estate manager, plus James Pyrah a trainee surveyor. A further trainee starts work with the firm later this month.
