Pure Gym secures lease at new Bramley leisure facility

Threadneedle Pensions Limited, in partnership with Gregory Property Group, has commenced work on constructing a major new leisure facility on a redundant 46,000 sq ft industrial building in Bramley, Leeds.

The transaction was brokered on behalf of both companies by Gent Visick.

Located on Elmfield Way and a few miles from Leeds City Centre, the current property been unoccupied since 2011.

Threadneedle has appointed Yorkshire-based Dimestage to demolish approximately a third of the building and refurbish the balance of 30,000 sq ft whilst providing 130 new car parking spaces.

The predominantly residential surrounding area, has recently seen a positive investment with the building of an Aldi store opposite.

Pure Gym, the UK’s leading gym operator, has already agreed to take a lease on the whole of the premises and will occupy approximately 20,000 sq ft initially with the remaining accommodation being marketed to let via Gent Visick.

Richard Tovey, director at Gregory Property Group, said: “We have been working in conjunction with Threadneedle to bring forward plans for this prominent building and after a lengthy and detailed planning process, we are delighted that construction has commenced. This will bring new life to the site whilst delivering important facilities and jobs for Bramley. The commitment by Pure Gym for the whole of the accommodation is testament to the quality of the location and the need for leisure facilities in this area. I am confident that the gym will prove extremely successful”.

Angela Crawshaw, property director at Pure Gym, added: “This is exciting news and we are pleased to be able to progress our plans for an affordable gym for the local community. This will be a great location for us offering 24 x 7 access and up to 75 free classes as well as free car parking for the community between Leeds and Bradford. This will be our third gym in Leeds and we continue to seek other opportunities both locally and nationally.”

Construction work is due to be completed soon with the gym being open around early Autumn.
