Appleyard Lees Wins Clarion Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge
A team of eight from leading IP firm, Appleyard Lees donned their running shoes and took first place in this year’s Clarion Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge on Sunday 12 July.
The fiercely competitive runners from the East Parade-based office prepared for another successful event and took their training very seriously in the run up to the challenge, with some even embarking on runs around the city at lunchtime.
The challenge brought businesses from across the region together to compete in teams and be amongst the thousands of participants taking part in West Yorkshire’s biggest run.
Amongst the eight winners who took part was last year’s fastest female Sarah Dobson who hoped to beat 2014’s record time of 41.01. Sarah was pleased at finishing with an impressive time of 40.43.
With fitness enthusiasts of all levels entering, the team also included Andrew McKinlay, Chris Mason, Dick Waddington, Robert Cumming, Rachael Watters, Olivia Gregory and David Walsh.
The Appleyard Lees celebrated their success after winning with an average time of 39.28, more than a minute ahead of the runners up, BBC Leeds who came in second with an average time of 40.37.
Joanne King, managing director at Appleyard Lees commented: “We’re thrilled to have had a winning team entering the Clarion Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge again and we all supported them as they attempted to outdo last year’s result.
“It is great to see businesses large and small come together and participate in city-wide events and we are so proud our team won with such an incredible time.”
With main offices in Leeds, Manchester, Halifax and at the BioHub at Alderley Park, Appleyard Lees is committed to providing companies with technical and legal expertise to protect and nurture the intellectual property of value to their business.
